Quick simple application method for placing vinyl decals on ribbed or uneven surfaces.
Wet vinyl decal application on uneven vehicle surfaces.
Clean off the surface.
This will be the buffer between the vinyl decal and the squeegee.
This type of decal is a little uncommon and should not be confused with water slide decals or vinyl self adhesive decals.
Use the wet method.
Spray the car thoroughly with the soapy water where the vinyl will be applied then stick the vinyl onto the vehicle.
Wet self adhesive decals.
Apply rubbing alcohol to remove any remaining oils or waxes from the vehicle s surface.
Apply the sticker while the area is still wet.
Wet applications may be advisable with clear or translucent film applications larger graphics on glass especially reverse cut interior applications critical alignments hot surfaces and windy conditions.
Remove the wax paper.
The wet method involves making a soap solution using a mixture of dish soap and water to get both the application surface and the adhesive side of the decal wet before applying the decal.
Make sure the surface you want to apply the decal to is clean.
Lol i know what you mean it is scary i use white vinager to set it when working with uneven surfaces like the delta on the 737 i just finished the decals on the nose would have been hard to get right with out it on flat surfaces i usually dont bother but i use micro sol on every decal i just love how they look after words.
Once the decal is where you want it remove any excess water with a squeegee to allow the decal to bond to the vehicle s surface.
The next step is to spray the outside of the vinyl transfer material looks like masking tape with water.
The soap gives the solution a bit of viscosity to allow the installer to slide the decal around and position it perfectly on the intended target in our case.
The vinyl should now be on the vehicle.
Wet self adhesive decals have adhesive on the rear of the decal which when wet with water allows the decal to be moved into the correct position before carefully wiping away any access water.
You can apply most smaller decals without using water but for large and very large stickers this trick is a life saver.
When wet is advisable there are certain substrates and conditions under which wet applications are the best route.
