What is a mabe pearl.

Instead of being grown inside the body of a mollusk creature a mabe pearl is grown against the inside of the shell. Mabe pearls also called blister pearls are unique in how they re created. A mabe pearl is actually a cultured blister pearl that is grown differently than other cultured pearls. These large super sized pearls are breath takingly lovely.

A small nucleus usually made out of mother of pearl is attached to the shell of the mollusk and left to accumulate nacre over a period that usually runs about two or three years.
