Wet Spot On Carpet Won T Dry

Then last night it seemed like there were a few more spots.

I didn t think much of it i figured i had perhaps spilled water and not noticed. Its on opposite side of all plumbing. Next use a wet dry vacuum or shop vac to suck up as much of the remaining moisture as possible from the carpet fibers. We have got a wet patch on our carpeted floor about 6inches by 8inches wide.

It is in a position where it is very close to the external wall if our extension was not built and is by the door going into the extension iyswim. This morning even worse. But it is only wet in this one area and the carpet goes from being really wet to really dry.

If you notice a musty odor that just won t go away with vacuuming and regular cleaning you may be dealing with a wet carpet. Next blot the area dry with a clean dry cloth or paper towel. When i stepped on it it got wetter so i used my carpet cleaner to suck up all the water and noticed 10 min later it was just a wet. The carpet is soggy to touch.

My parents used to rent it out to a family for 10 years and when we moved in there was very little upkeep done so the last year has been a series of fixing problems as they arise usually simple. The temporary fix was to rip up the carpet knock a hole in the concrete slab repair the leaking pipe fill in the hole with quickcrete cement and restretch the carpet once it and the pad had dried. This is a legit concern because in extreme cases over wetting your carpet during cleaning can sometimes leave behind a musty smell. We tried to dry it up but it has stayed wet for a couple weeks.
